How to recognize your skin type and take care of it the best way possible

How to recognize your skin type and take care of it the best way possible

Some people struggle with pimples every single day, while others are lucky to have radiant skin without even trying. We all have to deal with a different skin type that we are simply born with. Yet there are many ways to get the best out of your skin, no matter what skin type you have. Are you wondering what type of skin you have and how you can take care of it the best way possible? Then keep on reading.

Skin type and how to take care of it

Normal skin

This is the type of skin we would all love  to have! Small pores and an even even skin tone is typical for people with “normal” skin. This results in a face without a shiny T-zone (forehead, nose, chin area) and without chapped cheeks. In other words: the moisture and fat balance is optimal.

Care tips: you would think that this skin type only needs little to no care since the moisture and fat balance are already optimal in itself. Still, you shouldn’t rely on that because every skin type needs care. Therefore you should drink plenty of water and eat healthy. Don’t forget to eat lots of vegetables and fruit because this also contributes to good skin care

Dry skin

This skin type is easily damaged due to the fact that it lacks fat and moisture.  With it’s fine texture, this skin type not only appears somewhat translucent and blotchy but also feels tight.

Care advice: We would recommend to wash your skin less often with soap and take shorter showers (even though long showers are the best!) since these two things make your skin even more dry.

Oily skin

Oily skin has an overproduction of sebaceous glands. This excess sebum production results in blackheads and pimples and creates an oily glow. You often see this in young people going trough puberty.

Care tips: with this skin type it is important that the sebaceous glands are inhibited. It is therefore important to regularly cleanse your skin with water and to avoid care products that contain alcohol.

Mixed skin

Mixed skin is actually a combination of two skin types: oily and dry skin. The T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) is oily, while the cheeks are dry. You may ask yourself how this is possible: the areas around your forehead, nose and chin, more sebum is produced than on your cheeks. That's why it is likely that pimples and blackheads will occur in these areas.

Care tips: cleanse your skin regularly using only water. In addition, your overall health is very important for your skin. Therefore we recommend to eat healthy, get enough sleep and drink enough water.

Sensitive skin

If you have sensitive skin, you can often suffer from irritations such as: itching, burning or redness. When you get out of the shower, your skin often feels extra dry and may itch. Sometimes you can even see flaky patches.

Care tips: The best way to take care of this skin type is not to use any skin care products at all. Why? Because many products contain certain fragrances and colorants that can irritate your skin even more.

We believe in taking care of your skin from the inside out. Try the vegan beauty supplements Clear & Pure. The supplements contain a blend of healthy ingredients, including Astaxanthin. This is a carotenoid and makes your skin softer, smoother and more supple.
