All about the importance of moisturizing and tips for hydration

All about the importance of moisturizing and tips for hydration

Hydration is something you can learn. There isn't a jar of day cream that doesn't say 'for beautiful and hydrated skin'. You have probably heard the term "hydration" used many times before, but what is the real meaning of hydration? And what is it good for? Are you curious about the answers and some good tips to stay hydrated? Then read on quickly.

The importance of moisturizing

According to the dictionary, the meaning of moisturizing is basically to impart moisture. It is very important to provide your skin with sufficient moisture because it ensures that the outer layer of your skin is protected. It's also important to keep your skin supple.

By drinking enough water throughout the day you stay hydrated. This is how you combat skin aging and let your skin shine. But not only that: Insufficient fluid intake can also lead to other health problems such as: headaches, poor concentration, fatigue, constipation or muscle cramps.

How much water should I drink?

How much water your body needs varies from person to person. The American Institute of Medicine recommends 2.7 liters per day for women and 3.6 liters per day for men. You can also use the following formula:

Your body weight x 0.03 = number of liters of water per day

Moisture is not only found in water but also in a number of foods, such as cucumbers. Do you have trouble maintaining your fluid intake? Don´t worry! We have some helpful tips.

Tips for staying hydrated

1. Always carry a bottle of water with you wherever you go

And of course, don´t forget to drink it! Set yourself the goal that the bottle should be empty or refilled at least once by the end of the day. If the content of the bottle contains the amount of the outcome of the above formula, that's even better!

2. Drink a large glass of water before each meal

This way you force yourself to keep drinking. You will probably also eat a little less. Why do we mention that?  Sometimes you confuse thirst with hunger and eat more than your body needs.

3. Try to drink more water when exercising and when it's hot outside

When you sweat, you lose more fluid. The fluid you lose must of course be compensated. Remember this and drink at least half a liter of water more than usual on these days.

4. Having trouble drinking water? Eat the water!

Fruit contains a lot of liquid. Watermelon (it is in the name!) contains as much as 90% water. Peaches, nectarines, tangerines, oranges, blueberries and plums contain 85-89% water. Cucumbers also contain a lot of water with 97%. Who says staying hydrated is hard?

5. Add a flavor to your water

To make your water just a little more spectacular and appealing, you can add some mint, lemon or lime. Cucumber or grapefruit are also very tasty in a glass of water!

6. Drink cups of tea

A cup of hot tea with a nice flavor is also a bit more fun than a simple glass of water.
